Tv box recommendation

I was going to buy a gamestick but then realized it’s all a tv box with emuelec on it.. then i switched my idea to buy a tv box.. still don’t know which one to buy for a reasonable price but i have another question..

  • Will it operate as a Tv Box or Emuelec? I mean how will i switch between two systems? Will it be on a menu? or will i have to reboot in different modes everytime?
  • and whats your no-brainer kind of tv box that i could buy for a s905x3 chip?

or should i just say screw it.. and buy a m8 for retro gaming.. it’s cheap but many buyers report a bad sdcard. pfff i cant decide

i’m not very interested with 3d emulations.. maybe tekken 3.. but thats it.. cant remember any 3d game back from 90s.. is m15 enqugh for me, do you think?

You definitely should buy an amlogic box and NOT one of those cheap Asian game sticks, they are illegally using and selling modified versions of Emuelec and are NOT officially supported.

As Emuelec is completely running from a SD card, you can always either eject the card or reboot to your preinstalled android on the box from the Emuelec menu to use it as a tv box.

A 905x3 (for example T95 max plus) is a good choice, you will be able to run PlayStation 1 games and other systems, see here: Supported Platforms And Correct Rom Path · EmuELEC/EmuELEC Wiki · GitHub

ahh i see, thanks for clarificatio . I was curious about those asian sticks. as to how they can use emuelec without a proper chip, since there is a supported chip list here. so they were hacking.. makes sense.. they make copy of everthing..

I also wonder why there is a supported chip list, i mean emuelec is working on android, so why doesnt it run on all androids.. you use low level instructions spesific to a chipset or something?

anyways. i’m gonna buy your suggestion, a s905x3 chipset. I’ll keep sdcard inside then and reboot it from software to switch between systems. thank you <3

EmuELEC does NOT run on android… it runs on Amlogic devices that mostly have android installed, but it is not an app or something else, it is based on CoreELEC, a linux system…
