I’m wondering if it is at all possible to install and run Emulationstation desktop edition on Emuelec? There are multiple themes that I would like to try on my odroid go super but they don’t work on the older version of Emulationstation that ships with Emuelec.
I am not sure it will run; it will probably need to be setup with the correct paths, and that is if an aarch64 version is available, just note that you will lose all the customized menus.

How would I go about trying to build/install emulationstation de for this system?
Sorry I am not familiar with ES DE, so you will need to ask them for help? But if they have a precompiled AARCH64 version you could try and copying the files to /emuelec/bin/ and /emuelec/lib/ if necessary. Then edit emuelec_autostart.sh to override ES starting and start DE from there.
