Hello fellows.
A friend of mine recently messed up his controller settings in one of his devices, so he could not invoke the settings menu, and asked me to fix it. After some tinkering like connecting a keyboard to the device in hopes to be able to invoke the settings menu with some key or keyboard combination to no avail (connected a cheap wireless keyboard and EmuELEC/EmulationStation went into button configuration without allowing me to dismiss it or I couldn’t dismiss it -grrr-, and also tried with a full computer keyboard), trying with another controller, and reading here and there, I could not find any worthwhile information regarding reconfiguration of EmulationStation via file editing, so I decided to do new install of EmuELEC.
As a suggestion, EmuELEC / EmulationStation should support some default keyboard combinations (like Ctrl + ESC for the settings menu); this can be of help for the people who mess up their controller configuration, because losing the ability to invoke the settings menu means having to resort to a fix which computer illiterate people may have a hard time doing, if at all. Also, as a power user which decent knowledge about computers, I find the lack of information concerning the configuration of EmuELEC / EmulationStation via file editing uncomfortable. Is this documented somewhere?
Back on the main topic, the new 4.7 install went fine (the device was previously booting version 4.5), if only when I examined the new partition structure in the microSD card I noticed that the Linux ext4 STORAGE partition had grown from a hair less than 2 GiB to a hair less than 6 GiB, and the ROM collection my friend previously had in EEROMS was now in need of some slimming down to fit in the now reduced EEROMS partition.
So the question is, is there any problem if I slim down the ext4 STORAGE partition? I see it has around the same used size as it had on EmuELEC v4.5, but I decided to ask just in case.
Thank you a lot for your work in any case, creator/s of this software.
