Help compiling 4.8 from source

Hi,

I’m trying to compile from source here :

(I’m on Linux Mint Linux Mint 21.3 x86_64 Kernel: 5.15.0-164-generic)

I followed instructions:

$ apt install gcc make git unzip wget xz-utils libsdl2-dev libsdl2-mixer-dev libfreeimage-dev libfreetype6-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev rapidjson-dev libasound2-dev libgl1-mesa-dev build-essential libboost-all-dev cmake fonts-droid-fallback libvlc-dev libvlccore-dev vlc-bin texinfo premake4 golang libssl-dev curl patchelf xmlstarlet default-jre xsltproc libvpx-dev rdfind

Everything went fine

$ git clone https://github.com/EmuELEC/EmuELEC.git
$ cd EmuELEC
$ git checkout dev

Still fine, no problem encountered.

And then when I start compiling with:

$ PROJECT=Amlogic-ce DEVICE=Amlogic-ng ARCH=aarch64 DISTRO=EmuELEC make image

Everything seems to run as expected, up until

And then at that point, I end up getting a bunch of links that don’t work, and it ends up on a failure, like that:

What’s the problem ? Is it on my side or is there a problem with the links returning a 404 ?

Change the package.mk entry to a newer version:

There are 1575 files named “package.mk” inside EmuELEC directory. Do I need to make the change in all of them or just the one in EmuELEC/packages/devel/configtools ?

Edit:

I did replace the suggested lines in EmuELEC/packages/devel/configtools/package.mk, it failed because of:

WARNING Incorrect checksum calculated on downloaded file: got 6e4ebaa2a60114cf8b72d478b30e559f0c8e025d290ae3303773095104bf7bcc wanted d89be2c5a06d45e4a8731404cd6eb52ddde393480a56754a68b44f36753e38d7

So I replaced

#PKG_SHA256=“d89be2c5a06d45e4a8731404cd6eb52ddde393480a56754a68b44f36753e38d7”

by

#PKG_SHA256=“6e4ebaa2a60114cf8b72d478b30e559f0c8e025d290ae3303773095104bf7bcc”

And launched the compilation again.

Good, but if you have the right SHA now, uncomment the line, so that there is no hashtag at the beginning (if you want, otherwise it just ignores the SHA and keeps on compiling).
Like this:

Yeah I did that. I did a lame copypasta in my message here, that’s why it has a hashtag while in the file there’s no hashtag.

Now, I went for a walk and came back and the compilation stopped because of lack of disk space available :confused:

So I managed to free additional space on the disk, and started the compilation again.

I think that you have lost your Internet connection… are you using a wireless LAN connection? Try again, it’s best to use a lan connection. But before that, do a clean.

Best way if you encounter an error compiling a module, do these steps:

PROJECT=Amlogic-ce DEVICE=Amlogic-ng ARCH=aarch64 DISTRO=EmuELEC OFFICIAL=yes ./scripts/clean ecwolf

Also delete the ecwolf directory in sources and ecwolf directory in the build directory and also ecwolf in .stamps

Then build that module again with:

PROJECT=Amlogic-ce DEVICE=Amlogic-ng ARCH=aarch64 DISTRO=EmuELEC OFFICIAL=yes ./scripts/build_mt ecwolf

.. and see if it compiles now…

By the time I was starting to read your last post, I already resumed the compilation… I did:

PROJECT=Amlogic-ce DEVICE=Amlogic-ng ARCH=aarch64 DISTRO=EmuELEC make image

again all over it, hoping it would resume were it left… And it seems it did…

Now I’m at:

Is there hope for a fix for this one too?

How comes there are so much compilation problems ? It should always be expected or is it very rare and I’m simply not lucky?

You have an issue with your connection on your end, it cannot communicate with Github. This is an issue on your end and you need to fix it or the errors will continue. Google will help resolving that issue but it has nothing to do with EmuELEC.
